Currently there is one train per day departing from Phnom Penh to Kampot on Fridays, Saturdays and Sunday only. On Saturdays and Sundays the train departs at 07.00 from Phnom Penh and is scheduled to arrive in Kampot at 12.10, a scheduled journey of slightly over 5 hours and 10 minutes. On Fridays the train departs at 15.00. The effort it takes to travel to Kampot is richly rewarded. The town is famous for its riverside area and colonial market, as well the salt and pepper farms which produce much of the area’s wealth.
